ABOUT OUR QUINOA
Technical name: chenopodium quinoa, of the chenopodiaceae family. Native to the Peruvian Andes and other South American countries. Peru, along with Bolivia, is one of the largest producers and exporters of quinoa.
Due to its high nutritional power it became one of the staple foods of the Inca culture. It is gluten-free and easily digested, better than corn and wheat. It is an excellent source of phosphorus, calcium, iron, sugar, fiber, minerals and vitamin E. Its nutritional properties are so rich that NASA has included it in the diet of astronauts. It is widely consumed internationally in countries such as Canada, the United States and Japan.
Agroinca PPX, in its farm located in La Joya (Arequipa desert), has allocated 50 hectares for planting white quinoa of the Inia Salcedo variety, from the Salcedo Experimental Station in the city of Puno. Annual production reaches 200 tons.
Currently we have the white variety Inia Salcedo. Production is available all year round.
